Helping patients hear well again is the most exciting part of our practice. Everyday we get to share the smiles and tears of joy as our patients hear sounds they haven't heard in years. We understand how important hearing is to quality of life, so we work hard to help our patients enjoy the best possible hearing.
Because today's hearing aids are complex devices, it's important to work with an experienced audiologist who thoroughly understands hearing loss, speech processing, and hearing aid technology. Properly fitting a hearing aid is not an "off the shelf" process; it requires a great deal of fine-tuning for each patient's particular needs, with modifications as those needs change. Counseling, patient education, and follow-up care are just as important as the hearing aids, so we encourage our patients to come in periodically to be sure their hearing is the best it can be.
Most hearing losses (90-95%) are not medically correctable, so hearing aids and other rehabilitation options are the only solutions. Today's hearing aid technology offers greater benefit than ever before. Entry level digital products are available now for the same cost as the analog devices from years ago, but they offer greater speech clarity and some feedback control. Patients who spend time in restaurants, airports, and meetings will find more advanced hearing aids offer greater benefit as well as more flexibility to handle these challenging environments. Directional microphones, noise reduction, and multiple programs are especially helpful, and these features are available in a wide range of styles and prices. Many hearing aids offer wireless connectivity to Bluetooth devices as well.
Better hearing means a better quality of life for our patients and their families. But we understand that many patients are on a fixed income, so we search for products that offer the most benefit at the best price. Because we are not a franchise, we can choose products from several leading manufacturers who offer a wide range of products and prices. Finance options are also available.
Some of the manufacturers we work with are Widex, Phonak, Oticon, Siemens, and Unitron. These are some of the largest manufacturers in the world, and they are leaders in the development of new hearing aid technology.
